How a helmet became the beginning of a rain scarf

Cycling without a helmet – a different beginning

Between the traffic

I cycled a lot. On my e-bike, through the city, in traffic. For a long time, I did it without a helmet. Not because I didn't understand the dangers, but because a helmet simply wasn't right for me.

It felt clunky. Awkward. And because I was used to cycling without one, setting it up felt strange. Only later did I realize how vulnerable it actually was.

The threshold of a helmet

I knew: a helmet is safer. That was never in question. But the step of actually wearing one remained a big one.

And then came the question that changed everything:

What if we didn't start with the helmet, but with something people already enjoy wearing?

Another starting point: the rain scarf

No hood. No technical solutions that constrict or fit tightly.

I designed a scarf.

Soft. Flowing. Drapes beautifully.

A scarf that can drape over a helmet without losing its shape. Not forced, not restrictive—but following. Following your movement, your posture, who you are.

From aesthetics to functionality

While testing I discovered something unexpected.

Because the scarf rotates with your head, your view remains unobstructed. Looking over your shoulder is easier. Your movement feels more natural than with many traditional solutions.

And suddenly it wasn't just more beautiful.

It was also safer.

Safety starts with wanting to contribute

This design is not about enforcing safety, but about lowering the threshold.

About creating something you want to wear — and therefore making protection more natural.

Sometimes change doesn't start with what needs to be done, but with what feels right.
